- PARLIAMENT SITTINGS
The Third Meeting of the First Session of the Twelfth Parliament of Malaysia was held from 18 August to 18 December 2008. Two reform Bills on corruption and the judiciary were passed without any amendments.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Judicial Appointments Commission Bills were a culmination of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s efforts to bring reforms to the important institutions.
Other nine (9) Bills were also passed during this meeting, namely:
- Education (Amendment) Bill 2008;
- National Kenaf and Tobacco Board Bill 2008;
- Supply Bill 2009;
- Financial Bill 2009;
- Pensions (Amendment) Bill 2008;
- Statutory and Local Authorities Pensions (Amendment) Bill 2008;
- Pensions Adjustment (Amendment) Bill 2008;
- Judges Remuneration (Amendment) Bill 2008
There was also an amendment to the Federal Constitution i.e. Article 114 (3) to extend the retirement age of a member of the Election Commission to sixty-six years instead of sixty-five.

Incoming Visits
Parliament of Malaysia welcomed the following incoming visits:
- Official visit by His Excellency Senator Oralbay Abdykarimov, Member of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, H.E Absattar Hj Derbisali, Supreme Mufti of the Republic of Kazakhstan and delegates on 16 December 2008.
- Study visit by Hon. R. Chandrasekar, Deputy Chairman of Committees of Parliament of Sri Lanka and Hon. Dhammika Kitulgoda, Secretary of Constitutional Council and Secretary-General of Parliament, Sri Lanka on 15 December 2008.
- Official visit by Hon. Mr K. Shanmugam, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs of Singapore from 2 to 4 December 2008.
- Official visit by Dr. Saleh Abdullah bin Homaid, Speaker of Majlis Ash Shura, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 30 November to 2 December 2008.
- Official visit by His Excellency David Collins High Commissioner of Canada to Malaysia on 20 November 2008.
- Study visit by Parliamentary Service Commission Committee on Security and Development, Kenya on 13 October 2008.

The Parliament of Malaysia has the honour of hosting the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Sub-Committee on Financial Crisis in Kuala Lumpur on 23 and 24 February 2009.
