ACTIVITIES OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF
THE KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA IN THE PERIOD OF
JANUARY-MARCH, 2009

The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia under the leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heang Sam Samrin, the President, has fulfilled and played an important role to serve the people.
During first trimester of 2009, the National Assembly commenced an extraordinary plenary session and delivered the vote of confidence to the members of the Royal Government.
Also, Samdech President of the National Assembly granted audiences to national and international guests of honor and paid official and friendship visits to other countries as follows:

    2. Samdech President has granted audiences to the following guests of honour at the National Assembly palace:
    • His Excellency Mr. Alejandro Agordillo Fernamdes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to Cambodia, on 26 January 2009.
    • His Excellency Mr. Noe A Wong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Cambodia, on 28 January 2009.
    • Mrs. Laura Thomton, Director of National Democratic Institute to Cambodia, on 23 January 2009.
    • His Excellency Mr. Wolgang Thierse, Vice-President of the Parliament of the Federal Republic Germany, on 03 February 2009.
    • His Excellency Mr. Zoran Kozazovik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Serbia to Cambodia, on 03 February 2009.
    • Her Excellency Mrs. Carol Ann Rodley, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America, on 03 February 2009.
    • His Excellency Mr. Phung Guang, Minister of National Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on 21 February 2009.
    • His Excellency Mr. Vu Mao, President of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association, on 11 March 2009.
    • His Excellency Mrs. Tong Ti Fong, Vice-President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on 12 February 2009.

    3. Aiming at accelerating its foreign policies, the National Assembly has actively participated in international forums and paid official and friendship visits to other countries as follows:
    • Samdech President led the high delegation of the National Assembly to attend the 17th Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Lao PDR on 9-15 January 2009. The delegation proceeded to visit the Socialist Republic of Vietnam till 19 January 2009.
    • H.E. Mr. Try Chheang Hout, Chairperson of Commission of Planning, Investment, Agriculture, Rural Development, Environment and Water Resources led a delegation to attend the 14th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary on Development and Environment, Republic of Korea from 23-29 March 2009.
    • Responding to Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) Programmes, His Excellency Mr. Ly Narun, Secretary of Commission of Planning, Investment, Agriculture, Rural Development, Environment and Water Resources of the National Assembly, led a delegation to Japan in order to exchange experiences between the Japan National Diets and Cambodia Parliament on 3-12 March 2009.
    • His Excellency Mr. Un Ning, Chairperson of Commission on Interior, National Defense, Investigation, Anti Corruption and Public Function of the National Assembly, led a delegation on a study tour of the Federal Republic of Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.
    • H.E. Mrs. Ly Kim Leang, Secretary of Commission on Economic, Finance, Banking and Audit, led a delegation to attend the Regional Forum on Starvation from 15-18 February 2009 in Sri lanka.
    • Her Excellency Mrs. Ho Noun, Chairwomen of Commission on Public Health, Social Work, Veteran Youth, Rehabilitation, Labor, Vocational Training and Women’s Affairs of the National Assembly, led a delegation to Hungary.
