Globalization has been a driving force for increased interaction between countries and communities in the world. Challenges and problems faced no longer recognize the boundaries of the country, but how to anticipate the development of the times by multiplying information technology-based systems.
Accordingly, the Bureau of Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Secretariat General of the Parliament in collaboration with the Secretariat of AIPA (ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly) AIPA Connect Roadshow held at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (08/09/2017). The event which was attended by officials and staff in the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives was opened by the Deputy of the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives Damayanti.
“This event is one of a supporting system for the House of Representatives to support the role of parliamentary diplomacy and the creation of a modern Parliament. In particular, to actively support the activities of AIPA into the future,” said Damayanti in her speech.
According to her, #AIPA Connect is a container that is very useful to support the exchange of information or studies by fellow lawmakers in #ASEAN without having signed the relevant country.
“This is very useful because we can ask for anything online and in real time. This should be maintained so that we do not bother looking for material abroad,” said Maya, greeting familiar.
Furthermore, she said, the presence of AIPA Connect as a form of sophisticated information technology support among AIPA countries, is expected to facilitate the maintenance of relations between countries of the region.
This is in line with the enactment of ASEAN Economic Community (MEA), connectivity becomes significant in the effort of equity distribution. “In fact, it is possible in the future, ASEAN and its civil society are integrated in legislation,” continued Damayanti.
Also present at this event, Coordinator Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Bernardo R. Agawin which is a service provider for AIPA technology development under the auspices of the German non-governmental organization, AIPA Connect or Intranet System is a portal to share knowledge and web-based information. Thus, users will be able to share the experience / knowledge and update information about the AIPA member state parliaments or its Parliament Secretariat, for example, on legislation, research, public relations, international relations.
